New Wave Wine Society

What is the New Wave Wine Society?

Wine has caught BC by a wave! Over the past 30 years there have been many changes to the industry that was once seen as producing only poor quality and inexpensive wines. Today we have a world class industry that is recognized globally.

These efforts have led to increased innovation across the province. At one time the Okanagan Valley was the only area of interest to serious winemakers but with the advent of cool climate grapes, Mead and Fruit wine the geography has become far more expansive. It is not unusual to find wineries on Gulf Islands, the Fraser Valley, Central Vancouver Island, Kamloops and even Prince George!

Our group of wineries have come together in an effort to support innovation and quality in this “New Wave Wine” sector. We understand the importance of quality and marketing and refuse to accept the notion that great wine is the exclusive purview of Bordeaux grape varietals.

We are generally small wineries with production ranging from a few hundred cases of wine per year to 8,000 cases. Some of us produce wine from grapes, some from fruit and some from honey. But we all understand the importance of working together!
